BIRD WATCHING

With around 1,876 species, Colombia is the first country in the world for bird watching. Innumerable options are found in the cloud forests, moors of the Andes in the Amazon rainforest, Choco, in the Eastern Plains, and the Caribbean lowlands or valleys. Nirvana’s numerous viewpoints have been designed to watch the birds in the area with more than 150 recognized species. The forests makes it easy to spot the national bird of the region: "The Barranquero" (Momotus momota), Guacharacas turkeys, a variety of parrots, Toucans or Drifts, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, wild Canaries, Tiles, Honeymooners, Hoyeros variety of Tanagers, Squirrel Cuckoos, Poke, Eagles and Hawks, Carriquíes, Jays, Blackbirds and many more native and migrant species, which are the main attraction for ornithologists and bird lovers.
